What Pokemon do you need for the elite four?
Well my pokemon is Fire Red and I just started a new record. I have Charmander which is lvl 11. So what type of pokemon do I need I have Fire.

Suggestion by Pokemon
You can beat the Elite 4 in a number of ways. Just get a variety of Pokemon, make sure not to have two Pokemon of the same type. If you have all different types of Pokemon and they are around level 60, you will probably be able to beat the Elite 4. You shouldn’t really be thinking about this so much right now since you just started the game.

Suggestion by Tom Higgins
I would get a magikarp by getting the old rod in vermilion city and training it to be a gyarados at level 20. I would get a pidgey because they are very reliable. Get a abra in the grass to the left of nugget bridge. And the last guy if you have the time is to get a dratini from safari zone and train it to be a dragonite the best of all pokemon.

Suggestion by Bonfire
Make sure you have higher-leveled pokemon with a variety of types. For example, if you’re going to be fighting the Elite Four soon you’ll need an opposite type of what the opponent’s party will be, just like while you were fighting the Gym Leaders.
I’ll break this down for you:
The first of the four is Lorelei. She has a party of mainly Water/Ice pokemon so for her you would need Fire, Rock, Electric, or Grass. These are the most effective against those types. The Charmander you have sounds good in order for you to beat her, but you should train it more and have it level up if you want better moves for it to learn.

The second is Bruno. He has generally Rock/Ground and Fighting pokemon. To beat him you can have a pokemon which is either Water, Grass, or Psychic which are most effective against his types.

The third is Agatha. She has mostly Ghost and Poison type pokemon. The types strongest against hers are Dark, Ground, or Psychic. For you to have a Psychic pokemon in your party will be a great advantage because Bruno’s are also quite weak against this type. Two birds with one stone!

The fourth is Lance. He has almost all Dragon and Flying pokemon. The most effective types against his are Ice and Electric.

And of course, your Rival is last; so all pokemon you have will be able to defeat him somewhat easily since he has a wide variety in his party.

Okay — so, keep in mind that you don’t need all of the types I mentioned.
Overall, I’d suggest you to have one Fire pokemon, one Water, one Psychic, one Electric, one Grass, and one Rock. Though, you can choose whichever out of the ones I mentioned for best results.

Good luck beating the Elite Four, and I hope you have fun! :)

How is it possible that a flying pokemon can beat a grass pokemon?
the whole logic behind it doesn’t really make much sense to me.

i understand that fire beats grass and water beats fire and all that nonsense, and i understand that steel isn’t affected by poison and that flying isn’t affected by ground attacks.
i also even understand that fighting is good against normal but weak to psychic because of mind over matter and strong people over weak ones etc etc.
but why the heck is flying 2x super effective against grass?

Suggestion by mychem169
flying to get high is better than using “grass” to get high?

i dont know…hm…im liking my logic.

Suggestion by Sir Paddles
Grass pokemon are slow and they’re stuck to the ground. How many plants have you seen eating birds.

Suggestion by Michael M
First you need to see if the grass pokemon is a bug type because flyers are usually birds and birds eat bugs so all flyers are strong against bugs

Which Pokemon should you start with charmander squirtle or bulbasaur?
Im starting pokemon red, again, and I want to know which pokemon people would start with.

Suggestion by Zach
It depends. Water types are easy to find once you get a fishing rod, and grass types can be found as soon as you get out of mt. moon, but fire types are not as common. It is harder to play with charmander as he doesnt have anything good against Brock or Misty, the first two gyms, but bulbasaur has advantange over both and Squirtle has advantage over Brock.

Suggestion by Dusk
I would say charmander, and when you go through viridian forest, grab a mankey or butterfree, they can learn some fighting or psychic moves good against Brock. Fires aren’t as common.

Next would be Bulbasaur, he would be good against Brock and Misty.

Suggestion by Dude
Pshhh ignore the other two… the first two gym leaders are easy if you train the right pokemon… Just take charmander cause charizard is beast… Blastoise is too (if your worried about Brock take this guy)….AND dont take bulbasaur at all it sucks…. I remember it used to be the weakest in my party
